Comprehension
Comprehension is understanding what you are reading. Reading comprehension occurs before, during, and after reading a text. Reading comprehension is made up of two elements: vocabulary knowledge and text comprehension. A student cannot comprehend what they are reading if they do not understand the vocabulary being used in the text. A students also needs to put the words together to comprehend what the text is trying to say, this is known as text comprehension. There are many different strategies students use, such as understanding, asking and answering questions, and summarizing, when comprehending a text. (What is Reading Comprehension?, 2012).
